Raphael Schön is a former journalist, content strategist, and author. Based in Vienna, he wrote a book and regularly shares his thoughts on Twitter.

Raphael co-developed numerous print and online magazines, led complex branded projects for T-Mobile, ING, and other global brands, as well as built content marketing efforts from scratch for Bitpanda, one of Europe’s fastest-growing fintechs.

Since 2022 … Content Lead at Relai

Joined the Swiss Bitcoin company Relai as Content Lead. With a small but enthusiastic team, we build the best Bitcoin on-ramp for newbie investors.

2018 – 2022 … Content and Social Media Lead at Bitpanda

Joined Bitpanda as employee #42 and built its content marketing efforts from scratch (e.g., an in-house created e-learning platform). Over four years, I grew from Content Strategist to Team Lead (10+ people) with a direct reporting line to the C-level.

2017 – 2018 … Writing Mentor at the University of Vienna

Completed training as a “Writing Mentor” at the University of Vienna. Held weekly lectures on scientific writing and provided individual help for students working on their bachelor’s thesis. While doing that, I also finished my own bachelor’s degree in political science.

2016 – 2017 … Senior Content Strategist at Virtue Austria (A VICE Company) 

Team lead for Branded Content (5 people). Planned and executed various complex content marketing and social influencer projects for demanding international clients like Heineken, ING, MINI, T-Mobile Austria, Universal Pictures, and Vöslauer.

2014 – 2016 … Managing Editor at VICE Austria 

Managing Editor at VICE and MOTHERBOARD. Wrote articles, contributed ideas in editorial meetings, and acted as Editorial Lead at a long-term branded content project for T-Mobile Austria.

2011 – 2014 … Editor-in-Chief at CDA Verlag

Co-developer and Editor-in-Chief for the tech magazine “Android Magazin” (around 100,000 bi-monthly copies in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). Co-development and editorial lead for androidmag.de and its social media channels. Co-development and editorial lead for other print products like “Android Apps” and special editions (Samsung Galaxy devices, Windows Phone, and iOS).
